- →Clarify requirements before drawing. Ask: 300M users? Mobile? Global?
- →Stay in scope — you're designing the backend, not the recommendation engine.
- →State assumptions out loud: 30s heartbeat → 2M writes/sec → Cassandra.
- →Justify every database choice. 'I'll use MySQL' without scale reasoning is wrong.
